zeroing in on what I said — on greatness
“Anyone can be GREAT if they so desire, if they set their heads and
hearts on the RIGHT things: the right motivation, the right restraint,
the right relationships.”
The more I ponder this thought, the more it makes sense to me.
We who aspire to be great don’t always necessarily aspire to be right in the true sense of the word. We look up, take the leap, and aim high at the goal we set for ourselves, whether consciously or otherwise, and most of the time without utter regard of all the means by which we take flight.
Guilty as charged.
I draw a bead on being an influential leader, but have the tendency to lose track of sensible propriety by the wayside. I harbor the good intent, keep the precepts in sight, and blast off like a missile — but often find myself ending up in naught when it comes to understanding and achieving some semblance of what real greatness is all about.
Perhaps the prime example of greatness is found in the only One by which all things great is brought forth — the One who had everything right, from the very start:
- “the right motivation..” — that of GOD;
- “the right restraint..” – that of humility; and
- “the right relationships.” — that of love.
It is He who only had the One who matters in mind, embracing monumental self-constraint to take the fall, all for undying love. This is sheer and absolute perfection of greatness.
I’ll end this post with one of the best worship anthems ever written in this generation — one that affirms in every possible way, and proclaims with the most humanly appropriate words, His consummate greatness.

We were fortunate enough to have been able to experience the best of Baguio City right before the recent typhoon onslaughts. I hope this series of Baguio restaurant reviews somehow help the city's economy and tourism recover faster. Under the helm ...
