Azuthai (Arnaiz Ave. cor Paseo de Roxas, Makati)
Thai food, simply glorious Thai food — I love it. Dare I say that this cuisine is one of the world’s best? I probably would, and I’m glad that there are really good authentic Thai food establishments around.
One of the newest ones is Azuthai along Pasay Road, which we got to try out for lunch recently. Here are my snaps and thoughts of what we had.

For starters, we had the Yam Pla Duk Foo (P325) — Crispy catfish salad with green mango, shallots, peanuts, mint, chili, lime dressing. This was tasty and had that crunch from the catfish and peanuts, which I like. Bursting with sour and spicy flavors.

The Thai Iced Tea (P95) is made from strongly-brewed black tea, star anise, and tamarind, sweetened with sugar and condensed milk.

Tom Yum Goong (P345 to share) — Hot and sour prawn soup with lemongrass, Kaffir lime leaves, and fresh coriander

Satay Gai (P225 for 5 pcs) — chicken satay with peanut dipping sauce

Phad Thai (P325), presented in a fried egg wrap..

The Phad Thai after mixing: with bean sprouts, green onions, prawns, fried egg strips, peanuts, and a dash of lime. Yummy!

Khao Kapi (Bagoong Rice — P325), presented with the ingredients separated

The Bagoong Rice upon mixing. This was really, really good — so good that I think I’ll have to come back sooner than later, if only to order this for take out as I’m sure my mom will love this!

Pla Naeng Ma Naw (P735) — steamed whole boneless Apahap with lime, fish sauce, garlic, coriander and chili. The fish was tenderly cooked, and was nicely complemented by the explosion of sour, spicy, and garlicky flavors.

Our desserts were an assortment of Thai classics: starting with the Tako (Tapioca and coconut cream in pandan cups — 3 pcs. for P120), which was soft and creamy. The orchid petal garnish on top was a pleasant little detail.

Ruamit (P125) — Thai style halo-halo

and of course, no Thai meal can be complete without the Khao Niao Ma Muang (P165) — sticky rice with mango.

Azuthai’s version gets it right — with the right rice texture (sufficiently sticky, but not too pasty), sweetness, coco cream thickness, and ultrasweet ripe mangoes.
Setting. The place feels like a startup diner, not overbearing with its minimal adornments of Thai artifacts. Service was simple, no-nonsense, and efficient. All our needs were attended to well, without much unneeded fanfare. Price: we each paid about P900+ for this meal, which was very reasonable given the quality and quantity of food we had.
Overall verdict. Now I get why people have been raving about Azuthai — it has the perfect balance of authenticity, culinary value, and very reasonable pricing. The menu has plenty of choices to offer any palate. Highly recommended.
